Well, the semi-finalists have been selected! We have the honor of having created some high-profile logos. Freddie Wong and his You Tube crew of Facerockers currently have over 1.1 million subscribers and are ranked as the 5th most popular directors(all-time). That’s more than the NBA, Top Gear, CBS, or the BBC to name a few. Yea, they sport our logo.

We also just completed the logo for the GHC Network. The GHC Network is one of the premier church planting networks in the country and their expertise and leadership is sought after internationally. They will be implementing our freshly minted logo very soon.

2011 is around the corner, and we here at Differ Designs are convinced it’s gonna be awesome! In celebration of awesomeness, we decided to kick down some freebies for the most awesome people we know: you!

Hiring a graphic design company isn’t as easy as it looks. Sure, you need someone who can do awesome work, but there’s more to it than that.  Luckily, we’re here to help!

1. Check out their portfolio

See their work! Do you like it? In this day and age, there’s only 1 excuse for a designer to not have samples of their work on the ready…that’s bad design. Any decent designer will have a portfolio available on their website with different kinds of work available. The most common distinctions are between print design, web design, and logo design. The reasons between these distinctions are complicated, but all you need to know is that some designers do each better or worse than others.

2. Understand pricing

Pricing in graphic design works several ways. Some designers charge per project, others charge per hour.

Typically, low-level and bargain shops charge per project. They advertise firm prices on high-volume graphics that are often re-used with different companies. They’re sort of like track-homes. The product is mass-produced and looks very similar to the ones around it.

More skilled design companies will typically charge per hour. These companies focus on clear communication, expert design principles, and completely custom designs. They will usually take the time to learn what you would like to accomplish, and then give an estimate based on your needs.

3. Make contact

Now is the time to contact the company. You’ll want to tell the company what you would like to accomplish so that they can give you an accurate estimate. You also want to figure out if this company is one you can trust. Does the company communicate clearly and professionally? Are they excited about your project? Do they give clear direction for next steps? These are all good signs that you should look for.

4. Contract, contract, contract!

Experienced graphic design companies typically utilize a brief contract. If you like the estimate, trust the company, and would like to hire them, insist on using a contract to move forward. They keep things crystal clear for everyone. With a clear contract in place, your project is well on it’s way to being finished. Good work!
